To staff our new London base, we needed to recruit a team of local personnel who were up to the task of providing the level of service FRC is known for, and for which we are ranked as number one on the Procurement for Housing Framework! We wanted to create local jobs and acquire some local expertise. Our very first London recruit was Garth Baker (pictured receiving the keys to his lorry after training with us, top right.)
Garth was born in Jamaica and moved to the UK at a when he was very young. He lives in Stratford, and is a Londoner through and through. His detailed knowledge of the transport routes, both within the city and in the South East, was a key attribute that we wanted to bring on board. Garth also demonstrated excellent customer service skills, great technical capabilities and a good mind for logistics – all of which are essential for an FRC driver. He has worked as a contract labourer, warehouse operative and delivery driver. He has also received electrical training
Garth was selected after a rigorous application and interview process. After being offered the role he made his way up to Liverpool to the FRC HQ for training, induction and participation in our Culture Camp. As it turned out, this was ideal for Garth because he is a lifelong Liverpool FC supporter and was able to attend his first ever home Liverpool game whilst here!
As a London based driver, Garth oversees the delivery and installation of furniture and interiors for our key London clients. The role involves route planning, warehouse and stock management and of course the all-important delivery and installation of furniture and white goods. So London housing associations placing orders with us can rest assured that they are in good hands when it comes to delivery and installation!
